2020 Recap

I’m not too sure if this blog should be titled “2020 recap” or “2020 shit show” to be completely honest with you. I think most of us like to just pretend like pretty much all of 2020 didn’t exist and probably most of 2021, too. However, we have SOOOO much to be thankful for in 2020 and all that definitely deserves some recognition.

2020 was a year for our business that was scary but also brought so many amazing opportunities and tons of crazy business advances. While thatBliss was not born in 2020, it definitely grew exponentially during such unprecedented times. I was only simply working a few weddings here and there and still had the full time hustle going until right before the pandemic. Two weeks before the pandemic hit, I bought our entire rental inventory and decided to expand in that area. Then BOOM. Pandemic. To say it was scary is an understatement BUT I will say it offered so many opportunities for supporting myself.

When the pandemic hit, like many other business owners, I had no idea what to expect. Yet, I kept faith and God truly did provide. Here are some of the amazing opportunities that came out of the pandemic:

  • Featured in 3 different news articles for or ingenuity with micro weddings

  • 14 amazing weddings locked in for 2020 after the first shutdown… that’s 14 weddings we got to plan in the second half of 2020

  • One of our events was featured on NETFLIX!

  • We expanded our rental inventory and décor inventory

  • I started furthering my education in the industry and became a Certified Wedding Planner and Designer

  • We hired our first full-time staff members

  • Took on venue management for two venues

  • Numerous awards including one of the top planners in our area

When I look back at everything we managed to accomplish in 2020 I am so grateful for the couples who supported us. There is no way I could have done any of what was listed above without them. PLUS, I can’t forget all my amazing vendor friends and family that teamed up and offered such amazing experiences for our couples. The biggest thing we got out of 2020 is a strong community and support system that has allowed us to continue growing and flourishing to get to where we are three seasons later.
